Additional registration fees of £82 per Power of Attorney apply. These are paid to the Office of the Public Guardian and do not attract vat. You may be exempt from paying this fee if you meet certain criteria. We will work through that with you.

Settlement Agreements
Depending on the nature of the issue and the agreement to be advised upon, we charge between £350 (£420 including vat of £70) and £750 (£900 including VAT of £150). This will include the initial meeting, discussing your employment history, how the settlement agreement came about, any potential claims you may have, as well as considering and advising on the settlement agreement itself.
General Employment Advice - individuals
Fees for general employment advice are based on our hourly rates, which can be found under ‘Miscellaneous Fee Information’. We offer a free initial consultation, from which an estimate of costs can be provided if further work is required.
Employment Tribunal - individuals
Again this will be Fees for initiating an employment tribunal claim are £420 (£350 + £70 VAT). The balance of fees will be conducted on a No-Win, No-Fee damaged based agreement which will not exceed 35% of the damages awarded (which includes VAT charged at 20%). If successful the initial fee will be included within the 35% calculation. These fees include completing the ACAS Early Conciliation Process, initiating the Claim, dealing with any Defence, preliminary hearings, reviewing documents and witness statements, preparing for Hearings and undertaking the same, as well as any settlement discussions. If Counsel is required to undertake any aspect of this with you we will advise you of any costs, if they are not to be included within the damaged based agreement. Counsel’s fees may attract vat if Counsel is VAT registered. We will advise you of this if this occurs. The level of Counsel’s fees will vary considerably depending on the nature of your claim, complexity, length of hearing and value. A guide to a daily rate would be between £1000 to £2000 plus vat at 20%.
Employment Tribunals can take anywhere from 6 months to 18 months or more to reach a Hearing. This will be dependent on a variety of factors, including the nature of issues complained off, documentation, complexity of legal arguments, witnesses, length of hearing and tribunal availability.
General Employment Advice – Employers
As with general employment advice for individuals, our advice to employers is based on our hourly rates, which can be found under ‘Miscellaneous Fee Information’. In addition, we offer monthly retainer packages starting from £300 + £60 VAT, which includes a minimum number of hours of advice (starting at 2 hours per month) as and when required. If specific work is required thereafter, fees are charged based on our hourly rates and estimates will be given ahead of the commencement of any additional work.
Employment Tribunal – Employer
Fees for dealing with an Employment Tribunal case on behalf of an employer will be based on our hourly fees, which can be found under ‘Miscellaneous Fee Information’. We will provide an estimate of fees before the commencement of work, and this will consider the Claim amount being defended. These fees include completing the ACAS Early Conciliation Process, supporting with the Defence, preliminary hearings, reviewing documents and witness statements, preparing for Hearings and undertaking the same, as well as any settlement discussions. The normal fee range will be between £2500 plus vat of £500 up to £10,000 plus vat of £2,000. It is not possible to set this out in any more detail as the range depends on the nature of the claim, complexity, length of hearing and value. Counsel may be required to undertake various aspects and we will advise you of this if this is needed.

Debt Recovery
All fees below are for non-contested or disputed claims only. Should the matter become defended, then costs will be discussed and estimated as the matter progresses and based on our hourly rates which can be found under ‘Miscellaneous Fee Information’.
Initial Letter and Follow-Up Letter - £60 (£50 + £10 VAT)
These fees include the initial debt chasing letter, along with a subsequent letter should the debt not be paid. It also includes initial advice on the process and interest calculations. This fee is not affected by the value of the debt being recovered.
If payment of an instalment plan is not agreed, we will advise on next steps which will invariably consist of further correspondence, considering writing the debt off, or commencing court proceedings.
Issuing a Claim
Should no response be received from the debtor following the initial letters, we may advise issuing formal court proceedings.
Fees charged are dependent on the value of the claim. Fee ranges are outlined below.
Claims up to £10,000 – Between £200 and £750 plus VAT charged at 20%
Claims up to £25,000 - Between £200 and £1000 plus VAT charged at 20%
Claims exceeding £25,000 Between £200 and £2000 plus VAT charged at 20%
Please note, these fees exceed the fixed recoverable costs under the Civil Procedure Rules. The above ranges reflect the fact that each matter will be dealt with on its own merits. Some matters are more complicated than others and as such require additional time to prepare.
Additional Court fees will be incurred by you in addition to our fees and estimates. The Court fee costings currently are as follows.

Additional Information
In terms of costs, there are many factors to consider including whether the debt is owed by an individual or company, the amount and whether it is defended or not. If the claim is defended then the range of applicable costs is by its very nature rather large. An average range of costs are set out below. However, these will take into account the actual value of the debt, the nature of the defence, volume of relevant documentation, complexity of any arguments, is there a counter-claim, expert evidence required, length of hearing and other matters.
Claims up to £10,000 – Between £500 and £2500 plus VAT charged at 20%
Claims up to £25,000 - Between £500 and £5000 plus VAT charged at 20%
Claims exceeding £25,000 Between £500 and £25000 plus VAT charged at 20%
The above costs will include dealing with all aspects of the claim, from issuing, considering and replying to the Defence, court forms, reviewing documentation and witness statements, any settlement discussions including mediation, as well as preparing and attending any interim and/or final hearings.

Should your matter not proceed under a fixed fee basis, then the applicable hourly rates are as follows;
Matthew Parker, Solicitor, LLB (Hons) LLM – Grade A, 8+ years of experience - £261 plus VAT at 20% per hour
Gurmail Pardesi, Solicitor, LLB (Hons) – Grade A, 8+ years of experience - £240 plus VAT at 20% per hour
We will provide you with an estimate of the time each stage will likely take and the associated costs as your matter progresses. These will be updated as appropriate throughout the matter.
